The Mexican Association for Rural and Urban Transformation (AMEXTRA) is a non-profit organization that generates transformative solutions to the poverty that many families face living in rural and urban areas of Mexico.
Our mission is to promote the holistic transformation of marginalized communities in Mexico.
We are a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable changes through accompaniment and empowerment of community leadership and local participation. Through this work, we aim to transform the quality of life for those in marginalized communities while instilling values of service, compassion and justice.
Transformation is a process. It creates fundamental change on a personal level. It creates a new vision of reality. And these personal and visionary changes create a world that promotes the transformation of family, community and the environment.
Holistic Transformation, Community Participation, Unconditional Service, Compassion and Justice
“We do not serve because we are already transformed, but rather we are transformed when we serve.”
What does our logo represent?
The ancient Mexican symbol of corn inspires AMEXTRA´s logo. Corn, as the goodness of Creation, has always been present in the history, thought and spirituality of the people of Mexico. In the interior of the corn, one can see the corn kernels, from which a building emerges. This represents both the indigenous ancestry of contemporary Mexico, as well as AMEXTRA´s commitment to viewing rural and urban projects as an integrated social reality.
The corn is crowned by 3 circles, representing the proximity to AMEXTRA´s methodology: community participation, holistic transformation being the center, and unconditional service. The circles at each side of the corn represent the other two values of AMEXTRA- compassion and justice.
